Last Friday, Jayla's Pre-K class was given a really fun homework assignment. They had a do a treasure hunt. If they find all the items they receive a $20 gift card to Longhorn Steaks AND a $10 gift card to Toys R Us. Pretty cool, huh?
Well, not only did the kids have a list of teasures to find, but the parents had to find some too. Here's what we had to search for:
Parents treasures:
~Concert ticket stub - 3 pts.
~Wedding invitation - 2 pts.
~Highschool graduation picture - 3 pts.
~Pre 1980's baseball card - 4 pts.
~Eight track tape -3 pts. (this should be worth a LOT more than 3 pts.!)
~Sonogram picture - 1 pt.
~Postcard postmarked from another country - 10 pts.
~Foreign money (not Canadial or Mexican) - 6 pts.
~Picture of parent dressed in a costume - 3 pts.
~Photo of parent taken with tv or movie celebrity (no dressed up characters such as Mickey Mouse) 15 pts.
Child treasures:
~McDonalds Happy Meal toy - 1 pt.
~Varsity (restaurant) hat - 2 pts.
~Photo of student taken on vacation - 2 pts.
~Movie ticket stub - 3 pts.
~Sports jersey/T-shirt - 3 pts.
~Kids menu - 2 pts.
~Board game piece - 1 pt.
~Sunglasses - 3 pts.
~Party invitation - 3 pts.
~Celebrity autogragh addressed to the student (not from a dressed up character, can be from tv, movie or sports star)
In addition to finding all of these items, we also had to decorate a treasure chest/box to put the items in. And in case of a tie with points, the best decorated treasure chest will win.
(Notice the cute little bow on the "girl" skull & crossbones. Also, if you look closely, you'll see "jewels" and "coins" coming out of the chest)
We successfully found all but one of the items. Unfortunately, daddy and I don't have any photos with a tv/movie celebrity (we don't get out much with the rich and famous anymore...lol). But with a little help from friends & family, we have everything else.
The assignment is due tomorrow, so I'll let you know then how we did.

What a terrifically creative teacher she has! I love your creativity with the box, too. Also, your memes are fun to read. Just enjoying your blog all the way around, and thanks so much for your encouragement on the weightloss thang.
I am going to try playing that with my kids when they get out of school for the summer.I think they would love that.
What a creative and fun assignment!! That box is adorable.
I had all but one of the parent things here...and all but one of the kid's things from that list!
I wish Grace could do something like this! What fun.
Keep us posted on how Jayla did!
Hugs,
Sue
This is such a cool idea...I love it...I'm ready to move to GA just to go to Jayla's school so I might get the same assignment with Baby C!!!
I wish I was related to you guys I have a picture of myself and Will Smith!!!!!
Or I could PhotoShope you in with anyone just pick someone!! LOL
I love activities that include the parents with the child. I'm sure there are some parents that grumble about the "wasted time," but those are the memory makers for our babies. Sounds like a lot of fun to me!
What a FUN FUN assignment!!! Too cool!!!
And those gift card goodies. Awesome!!
LOVE your treasure box!!
Have a wonderful Mother's Day!!!!
