Now serving #43 (and a day)

Hey ya'll!!!

You're not gonna believe this, but I have logged onto Blogger about 3 - 4 times within the past couple of days. All with the intentions of doing a new post. Hopefully, that gives you an idea of how CRAZY busy life has been lately. AGAIN, I'm not complaining...just making conversation :-).

Anyhoo...I don't really  have time right NOW to be posting either, but I'm MAKING time because I miss all my blogland friends. AND there are a few things I'd like to share with you. But I think, to make sure I get out EVERYthing I want to tell you...I'd better take little steps.

First things first...Jayla and the rest of the Brasil soccer team are finally done with their season. And what a season it was. Sadly, they only won one game. But it was the last game of the season. So at least they ended on a high note :-). Boy, I sure wish you guys could see Jayla play. I can't even put into words how good she is. And I'm not saying that just because she's my daughter. She REALLY is good!! And of the 12 girls on her team, she, and maybe one other little girl, are the only ones who play the ENTIRE game. Which usually lasts about an hour. Jayla never wants to come out for a break. Nor is scoring at the top of her "to do" list anymore. That girl simply wants to be the last line of defense and keep the other team from scoring. Of course, some get by her, but it's not without a fight :-). Anyway, our #17 has got it on LOCK! :-)

Secondly, guess who showed at my house on Monday? (those of you who have kept up with me over the years, probably already know the answer to this)...but it was my dad!  My dad lives in New York! And from what he's told me, he flew to Tampa, Fl over the weekend to visit with a friend, then rented a car to come surprise me and Jayla for our birthdays. He'll be here all week. He's such a cool daddy!

My surprise visit from my dad leads me to my 3rd "nugget" of information. Since my last post, I have gotten a little older. Yesterday (17th) was my 43rd birthday! (Now my post title makes sense, huh?) I am now on my 2nd day of serving in my 43rd year of life :-).   And I just want you to know, that I am TRULY blessed. You would not BELIEVE all the amazing birthday wishes I received from friends & family on my Facebook account.  And then, my local friends are just as sweet as they can be! My friend Jacki and my friend Stacey must have gotten together and decided on a what to get me. (actually, I know they didn't...because they don't know eachother) But check this out...

LOL!

Jacki and I had plans to meet for lunch on my birthday, she was even gonna treat me. But then my dad showed up, came to lunch with us and treated BOTH of us...how cool is that? Stacey also got me a cutest coffee mug from this little coffee shop we frequent.  So now next time we go there...which will be tomorrow night, I get free coffee! (from then on, every time I bring my mug in, I only have to pay $1 for a "refill".) SWEET!!

So about 45 minutes ago, my dad and I were walking downstairs and I see this van pull up in front of my house. And I say, "Hmmm, I wonder who that is in front of my house?" My dad answers, "Well, I dunno, but whoever it is has a big ole box of Dr. Pepper!"  So he opens the door and ANOTHER one of my friends, Lynnetta, says, "Happy Birthday Dawn! Sorry I'm a day late!" You guys she went to Costco and bought me a HUGE case of Dr. Pepper!  And I don't mean a case of 12 or 24...it's a case of 30!

Are ya'll seeing a trend here?

Do you think my friends know me pretty well? :-)

As far as the (combined) 5 tubes of lip balm/lip gloss that I received, I don't know if I should be offended or not. Did they get this for me because they know I love ANYTHING Dr. Pepper? Or because I have a dry lip problem? LOL

Thank you guys! Ya'll are the best.

Ok, I'm gonna end right here for now. Because there are a few things I should be doing :-). But I WILL be back to post soon, as there's yet another milestone event coming up at the end of this week...Stay Tuned!

Ya'll have a great week and I'll talk to you soon! Love ya!

Halloween 2009

Happy November 1st everyone!

I don't know about you, but I'm STILL trying to figure out what happen to the last 10 months!  My goodness, 2010 will be here in just a minute :-).

So, what did you all do for Halloween last night? Was it as cold and rainy where you are? It was pretty darn cool here and not really RAINY...well, not for long anyway. After the 10+- minute rain we had, it was just a heavy mist the rest of the evening. Talk about a bad hair halloween :-).

Anyway, the kids still had fun. Here are a few pix from our annual neighborhood hayride.

Here's the pretty little, Dr. Jayla.

And of course we can't take pictures of Jayla without the famous "head tilt" shot :-).

Here's the doctor and her cute little friends, Briah and sisters, Madison & Macy.

The doc again, with her cute little witchy friend, Briah :-).

And...the crew!  We did have the hayride this year, but due to the rain, just the smaller kids road on the covered hayride. The older kids and all the parents just walked the neighborhood. In fact, Dr. Jayla said she enjoyed the, in her words, "Old school" way of trick or treating, lol. What does she know about "old school"? :-).

Of course we couldn't have a night of trick or treating without some Father/Son bonding :-).  Nothing like a Pimp and his gangter son. Just warms my heart :-).

It was so funny...one of the other kids asked this dad what he was dressed up as. And without missing a beat, Greg answered, "I'm a...SUPERVISOR!" lol...Good save, Dad!

I didn't dress up for Halloween. But at my weekly GNO, we did have a bit of halloween get together. Check us out.

Ok, I decided to follow in my daughters footsteps and be a nurse. I'll tell ya, these scrubs are comfy :-).  It took some coaxing for my boss, Dr. Jayla, to let me borrow her "heart listener" and blood pressure thingy. What can I say? I've gotta pay my dues in this (medical) business :-)..

Here's my good friend (and personal photographer), Cynthia, the SuperGirl!

Ya'll remember my good friend, Stacey, right? Well, this is what she looks like when she doesn't put make-up on, brush her teeth or do her hair :-).  I think the picture in the background fits this moment, don't you? lol (The "red eyes" worked great for this shot, huh?)

Here's the lovely witch again!

Has anyone seen my good friend, Mandy's puppy?

Ohhh, there's the puppy! You see him? LOL Poor thing!

My good friend, the Grecian Goddess, Lisa F.

My other good photographer friend...Lisa S. ,the sister of Super Girl Cynthia.

Do ya'll remember hearing the story about the little boy, Falcon, who was thought to be floating away in a box that was attached to a giant milar balloon? Well, he was really a girl, my good friend Lynnetta. LOL!

Here's the whole gang.  I just love all these guys! Who better to spend my Wednesday nights with?

Oh well, that's all I've got for today.  It's a lazy day around here today. So I'm gonna go chill out with my family.  Ya'll enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a great Sunday!!

It takes a village

Hello everyone!  I've missed you all!  But once again, I am to blame for not "initiating" and opening the lines of communication. However, I have a good reason....

You may have heard on the news a few weeks ago, that many, many Georgia families had become victims of flooding due to several days of continued rain fall.  It still continues to baffle all of us Georgians, as a couple years ago, we had just the opposite as an issue. We hadn't had rain in several months and were in a drought.  In fact, we weren't even allowed to water our lawns or wash our cars, in an effort to conserve water. The major lakes here, such as Lake Lanier, Lake Allatoona and many more, were WAY below level.

Well, due to the most recent rain fall, Georgia being in a major drought is a distant memory. NOW...there's too much water!  So much so that several lakes, roads, businesses, homes and schools were flooded.

Fortunately, our home had no problems with flooding. However, our backyard did get a little swampy.  But again, our home was never threatened by the overflow of waters. There were many roads not too far from us that, due to all the constant raining and standing water, were compromised and in turn, collapsed and/or became sinkholes.

Several counties, including ours, closed schools early. Some, in fact, stayed closed for a couple of days.

As I mentioned, several schools were flooded...some worse than others. But the worse by far, was a school not too far from where we live.  Clarkdale Elementary was the hardest hit in our county.  Take a look at this picture of the school sign...

This is one of the oldest schools in our county and happens to have been built on a flood plain.  So needless to say, this school has been flooded before, but NEVER to the extent that it was this time.

Here are some more pictures of Clarkdale after the rain took a couple of days off.

Can you imagine your school being under water like this? There were homes in this area that suffered the same or similar fate.  In the news interviews, you could just see how devastating this was to so many families.  There were about 400+ children at this school.  All of which had to be moved to other schools. Kindergarten - 2nd grade went to one school.  And 3rd - 5th grade went to another. This meant that some children would be separated from their siblings.  EVERYTHING was lost in this school. Several families also lost everything. The normal, everyday things that are needed for school were lost.

The school where Jayla goes, along with other schools in our county came together and had a school supply and clothes drive for the flood victims of Clarkdale Elementary.  The response was OVERWHELMING!  And I mean that in a really good way :-).

Considering that these days, times are kinda hard for everyone, it was amazing how people rose above their own needs to extend a helping hand by way of donations.

Jayla loves "sharing" the clothes that she has outgrown with other people. So it was a very easy decision for her to give up some of her things. She was so excited that her clothes would be given to another little girl who now had nothing.

Last week I received an email from a friend whose daughters go to school with Jayla. She mentioned that all the clothes that had been donated now needed to be sorted and made available to the flood victims.  So last Friday, she and I met at another local elementary school and started sorting all of the items that had been donated by people in and around our county.

You guys, there were TONS of bags and boxes of donated items in this one little room. Here is a picture from mid-way through our first day of sorting.

The above picture doesn't even show HALF of what we received and had to sort. See all the book bags on that back wall? ALL of those are packed full of school supplies. The blue bins are what we are sorting the clothes in.

There I am, tossing some clothes in the "Girls - Size small" bin :-).  See the boxes on the table? There are about 20 - 30 of these boxes, jam PACKED with clothes. All of these came from a county about 50 miles away from us. On our first day volunteering, these 20 - 30 boxes were lined up outside the room we are working in. We just got to these boxes on Tuesday of this week. There was SO much stuff in the room that we had to get through before we could even get to those :-).

This next picture was taken just before we left for the day last Friday. These bins are full of the clothes we sorted and folded.

See all the bins with lids on them? That's what we've gotten sorted as of noon today. We've been busy! :-)

My goodness, I can't begin to tell you how humbling this has been. I don't think that I take what I have for granted. I sure hope I don't, anyway. But just to see all of this stuff and to know that it'll be going to people who have lost EVERYTHING, makes you look at things a little differently. So far, the 5 days that we've been working on this, about 4 children have come into this room needing SOMETHING. A couple had holes in their shoes and we were able to give them a nice new (or gently used) pair. One kid had been wearing shoes that were 2 1/2 sizes too small for him AND they had holes in the sole. Another child came in for some jeans and a teacher came in to get about 4 coats for some kids who don't have one. It's been AMAZING!!!

I have throughly enjoyed myself. I volunteer at Jayla's school in some capacity every week. In fact, this week, I've been working at both schools. There's still plenty of work to do for the clothing drive.  I'll be there for a while tomorrow and I'm sure there's enough to do that will take us into next week.

I must admit though, I've been exhausted lately! But it's so rewarding to know that in some way, other than just by donating clothes, I'm making a difference in some childs life.

SO, now you all see why I've been neglecting my blogging "duties". :-)  I've truly missed you all.  I've been periodically putting a status of what's going on with me on Facebook. So for those of you who are on FB...you know how busy I've been. Busy with volunteering and soccer when weather permits.

ANYWAY...sorry for the long post. But I just wanted to share all of this with you. And in closing, I'd like to request that you keep all of the flood victims and their families in your thoughts and prayers. Sometimes we don't realize what we have until it's gone. I feel SO sad for the children that were affected. But hopefully, they will see the good that's being done for them through prayers and the volunteers.

Thank you all and I'll be talking to you soon. Enjoy the rest of your week and have a great weekend.

Just stopping by

Hey ya'll!!!

My goodness, I think I have been up to Jayla's school more these past couple of months than I was ALL of last year. SHEESH!! But it's great though. I love volunteering.  I work with a bunch of great people...so that makes it all worth while.  And Jayla has been blessed with some really wonderful teachers. Again, that makes my "job" a lot more fun and easier to have to do.

I've also been really busy with soccer.  Although there has been a lot of rain lately, which in turn, causes game cancellations, we've still been busy.  In fact, just this weekend alone, we had 4 games in 2 days!  And boy did we put some miles on the ole soccer mobile.  And for those of you who keep up with my statuses on Facebook, you'll see that out of those 4 games, we won 3 of them. YAY!! I love soccer!

ANYWAY...I have a few pictures to share with you. These are some I took at Jayla's game over the weekend.  She played goalie...the position that really "rattles my cage", so to speak. Of all the positions, goalie is the most dangerous.  But she really enjoys it. So I let her do her thing.  And she did great. Check her out...

NOTE: Please excuse the quality of the pictures. I got another new camera...Thanks Daddy! (a Canon this time) and I'm still trying to figure out how it works.

I've been up to a few more things since my last post too. A friend of mine asked me to do a craft show with her and another one of our friends. I recently learned how to make these cute little hair bows.  And being that I have a little girly girl...that was right up my alley.  We didn't do too well at the craft show. Guess people aren't in the market for hair accessories these days, lol. But I do enjoy doing them. In fact, I started another blog (yeah, I've been working on THAT too since my last post).  For those out there with little girls, you may wanna check it out. Click here to see my new "crafting blog".

Let's see, what else have I been up to? Oh, I'll be making a scrapbooking come back in the not so distant future too.  I was "elected" to be the school historian this year.  So I'll have to have that done by the end of the school year.  Gonna be fun!

I'm sure there's a lot more that I wanted to share with you in todays post...but it escapes me at the moment, lol :-).

Ya'll have a great week and I'll talk to you soon. Toodles!

Just cuz she's cute....

WARNING...WARNING...WARNING

Ok, you've been warned...
This post consists of a photo overload of a SUPER cute little girl!! :-)

I'm kinda in a hurry, as tonight is my weekly GNO...but I had to take a few minutes to share some recent pix of my baby girl. I will have a "normal" post in the very near future. So stay tuned.

In the meantime, here she is...

This is just a cute picture I took of Jayla...just because. I also took it to show off her new hairbow that I made. You like?

The 2009 Soccer season has begun. YAY!!! This season, Jayla moved up to the U10 team. And a new team it is. The same girls are on her team, we are just with a new "league". As you notice, no more black, red & white uniforms...again, YAY!!! lol And if I've got my information correct, they are no longer the Lil Stingrays. They are now known as the Brasil Stingrays...I think.

The head coaches daughter, and Jayla picked out the uniforms this season. They could choose from several of the "national" team uniforms. And they chose Brasil. I just LOVE the new look.

Here are a few more pix from this past weekends season opener.

Not sure what's going on with the socks being pulled up so high...I think she was just being funny. As far as her SHORTS being almost around her NECK...I got nothin! :-)

Aren't they a cute little team? The other 4 team members hadn't arrived when this picture was taken.

There's my girl running after that ball...and "Coach Daddy" in the background watching.

This is just a fun shot I took. She was standing in front of me getting ready to do a "throw in". For some reason, I love the lighting in this picture.

That's it for the soccer pictures. But I have a funny soccer story to share.

Saturday morning as we were getting ready for the game, this is the conversation that took place.

J-"Mom, what team are we playing today?"
M-"You're playing England!"
J-"Wow, England? That's cool. I hope we win."
M-"Baby, just do your best."
J-"OH! MOM...do you think we'll be able to understand them?"
M-"Huh? What do you mean?"
J-"I mean, will they have accents?"
LAUGHTER
M-"Uh, I doubt it! You play for "Brasil" and YOU don't have an accent!"
J-"Oh...right! DUH!!!"

Well, before I go, I have one more picture to share with you. Yesterday, Jayla got back her 2nd grade Fall pictures. Check her out...
She's so stinkin cute!
Ok, ya'll have a great night. Talk to you soon!

They were right...it DOES get worse before it gets better

...So, how bout THAT for a title? :-)

I have yet to figure out who "THEY" is/are. But today I'm gonna have to go with it.

Where do I begin? In my last post you may remember that my baby girl had been a little feverish? Well, I thought I'd try and do a good "mom job" and get her out of the house on Saturday since she seemed to be feeling better and had been fever free most of Friday. And knowing that she's a little like me, after a day or so sitting in the house, she got a little stir crazy. So again, I thought I was making a good judgement call by taking her to a soccer tournament.

It was outside.
It wasn't in a closed in area where she'd have to be really close to other humans :-).
It was close to home...just in case.
It was a way to give her some fresh air.
But little did I know that it was gonna be Sahara HOT!

Anyway, she seemed to be doing alright outside...except for the complaints of how hot it was out. We sat through 2 games (our team won them both...YAY!...and subsequently won the tournament) and other than being a little drained, she was doing well. I did, though, take the thermometer and the Childrens Motrin with us to the game, just in case.

So, we get home and Jayla started to heat back up, just a little. She just wanted to lay around and try to keep cool. Daddy went to a movie with another coach and a few of the boys from our team. So Jayla and I took our showers, popped some popcorn and had our own movie night:-). Jayla was starting to doze off and in fact, missed most of the movie and didn't touch her popcorn. I soon sent her to bed.

Around 10:30pm, when daddy got home, he went in to check on Jayla. He said she felt a little warm and asked when I last gave her some medicine. Being that I had given her a dose just after he left for the movies at 7pm. He decided to wait until 11 to give her anything else. 11pm came, he goes in to check on our little patient and take her temp again. He comes back to our room with super worried look on his face. Jayla's temp had gone up to 104.3! He gives her a little Tylenol and we then decide that we're gonna take her to the ER. And as we're getting changed, we hear Jayla get up and she throws up in the hallway! (this was a good thing!)

Once cooler heads and thoughts prevail, we decide to hold off on taking her to the ER. I get on the phone with a Kaiser Permanente advise nurse and Mister M. gets on the laptop with WebMD.

Long story short, we decide against taking Jayla to the ER, as her temp has started to subside. Fortunately, she had no other complaints or issues. The KP nurse said this was a good sign. But if she threw up again or the temp spiked again that we should take her in immediately. We gave her more Motrin and decided that she'd better sleep with us so we could keep an eye on her.

Well, considering that neither of us wanted to get sick (again), we opted to blow up the air mattress and let her sleep in our sitting room.

Her temp finally went down to something we were comfortable with and she remained fever free all day Sunday and yesterday. I chose to keep her home yesterday...just in case.

She went back to school today and did great. Now, she just has a runny nose. I'll take that over a 104 fever ANY day!

On a funny note, while Jayla was home with me yesterday, she commented about how she enjoyed sleeping in mommy & daddy's room. She also said that she was going to start moving some stuff out of her room and into our room..."so we could be one big happy family!" We are one big family...but we're all happier when Jayla sleeps in her own room, LOL. I immediately deflated the mattress (and Jayla's thoughts)...you know, out of sight out of mind :-).

Anyway, thank you ALL for your well wishes for Jayla. Thank God, we're on the upswing now and hopefully this will be it as far as her being out of school due to illness.

On another...and not so detailed subject...look what I got?

I got a new toy! The other cell phone I had was dying a slow, miserable death. I was getting a little pisturbed with it beeping at me telling me, "If you'd like to use the PTT (push to talk) feature, you must install the software." Normally, this wouldn't be a bad thing. But when it's telling me that and I'm not even TOUCHING the phone, let alone talking on it...there enlies a problem. It also liked to beep from time to time to tell me something about not being able to listen to music on the phone. Again, the phone could be in my purse or something when I'd get that little message. And how annoying is it for your phone to just randomly turn off or on as it sits idle somewhere? ARGH!!! Mister M. and I actually had the same phone for a while. You may remember the cute little purple one I had? That's the one, along with Mister M's that we just replaced with the above device. So far, I'm loving it!

Ok, that's it...sorry for the long post. But I just had to share ;). Enjoy your week and I'll be talkin to ya soon.

Thank GOD for Kleenex, Advil, Motrin & Alternators!

Good GRACIOUS!!!

The Bibbs family has been some sickies lately. It started last Saturday with Mister M. being taken down for the count. Me and Jayla tried our darndest to stay away from him. But being that we're a loving/touchy/feely kinda family, it was pretty impossible. Not to mention, he "worked" from home all week in an effort not to make his co-workers sick. And I was the good wife and checked on him quite a bit, as well as made several soup, OJ & medicine runs to the store. But alas, it finally attacked me too.

By Monday, I started feeling that scratchy feeling in my throat and even woke a couple mornings sounding a little like Barry White :-). But I was hell BENT on not getting sick. I was determined to fight it! And fight it I did...albeit for nothing.

Jayla managed to avoid it a few days longer than I did. Until Wednesday morning when she woke up with 102.5 temp! Poor baby! "Welp, no school for you today, young lady!" For those of you who either know or know OF Jayla...you know that the words, "No school for you today" are fueding words. However, she must've really felt bad because after her quick dose of Motrin, she was back in slumberland. We were able to keep the fever at bay for the entire day. So much so that she was doing cartwheels (literally) :-) She even woke up yesterday with a "normal" temp, and was able to go back to school. And just in time too...yesterday was Fall Picture Day :-)

She WAS fever free...I SWEAR!!!

I know, I know...I'm a scrapbooker and I love myself some pictures. And yes, I'll admit it...school picture day is very important to us - ahem, ME! She was so stinkin cute...

ANYWAY...she successfully made it through the day, still fever free. UNTIL...this morning when she woke up with a 101.3 temp. ARGH!!! Again, no fight to make her stay home. And as of right now (8:34pm EST) she is still fever free.

Backing up a bit...yesterday afternoon, I was about to leave and take my rightful 1st spot in the carpool line, ONLY to have my van not start. What? Are you kidding me?

Now my VAN has a cold too???

I told Mister M. and he comes downstairs and tries to start the van with HIS keys...lol...don't ask, it's a man thing, I'm sure. Anyway, I was right, the van didn't start (HAHA). So I have to take his car to pick up Jayla.

When I get back, we brainstorm and try to figure out what might be wrong with the my soccer mobile. We come to the conclusion that it's the starter. So I called the shop that we get our vehicles worked on at, and tell them what WE think the problem is. They quote us $350 to replace the starter. It is suggested that we call a tow truck to take the van to the shop. 45 minutes later, the tow truck comes and the driver says, "I betchall a hunnerd dollers that it ain't the starter. It's your battry...I betcha!" He then says, "I betcha if I jumpya wit my truck, she'll start ryte up...I betcha!" So he grabs his jumper cables, hooks them up to the "battry" and plugs the other end into his truck...all while giving us a nice glimpse of his Hanes and a little BC (butt crack) ACK!!!

ANYWAY...he was right. Cuz, like he said..."I know my vehicles...I betcha!" So he saved us the additional $10 it would've cost to tow the van and just followed us the 3.75 miles to the shop...just in case.

The long and short of this story is...it was not the starter. But a "dead as a doornail battry" and a bad alternator. They kept it over night and got it fixed up for us...all to the tune of $551.47! Well, there goes a little bit (more) of our nest egg. But the van is running fine...I betcha!!

Ok, that's about all I've got for now. But before I go, how bout a flower fix to start off your weekend...

Have a great weekend!!

.......uhhhh, errrr, welll...I'm speechless!

...Ok, for those of you who know me, you KNOW that it's not often that I'm left without words. But being that I AM Jayla's mother, it happens.
~
Allow me to share this with you. I pick Jayla up from school yesterday and the following conversation takes place...
~
Me: "Hey sweetie, how was your day today?"
*
Jayla: quizzical facial expression - "It was ok."
*
Me: "Just ok? What happened? Did you have a bad day?"
*
Jayla: "Wellll, kinda."
*
she has now proceeded to take her purple folder out of her book bag and open it to show me.
*
Jayla: "Today we got our weekly reports...annnddd, I will understand if you tell me I can't watch TV when I get home today. I HAVE to learn my lesson!"
*
Me: quizzical facial expression with slight jaw droppage - "Wait a minute now, WHAT happened?"
*
NOTE: we are now in route to the gas station and she's trying to show me this purple "Thursday" folder. I tell her to wait until we get to said gas station and I'll look at the folder there. So we stop, I start pumping the gas and I read the paper in the folder. Which SIMPLY states that Jayla had a "minor" issue with talking too much (big SHOCKER) in class and in the cafeteria...on Tuesday and Wednesday. So as I'm reading this "send her up the river" worthy info :-D, Jayla has this PAthetic look on her face and says...
*
Jayla: "Mom, I'm VERY sorry about my talking. And I understand if you want to punish me by not letting me watch TV anymore. It's the only way I can learn my lesson! I KNOW better than to be a talker at school. I'm SOOO sorry, Mommy!"
*
Me: still bearing the quizzical facial expression - "Jayla, I know you're excited about starting back to school this week. However, although you should try and control your talking, this is not THAT serious! You know when it's okay to talk and when it's not ok. Just try and work on that, ok?"
*
Jayla: "But MOM! I need to learn my lesson! And it's ok with me if you need to punish me! But starting tomorrow, I will think before I talk too much at school."
*
NOTE: we are done pumping gas and are now on our short ride home.
*
Me:...yep, still looking confused and wondering whose child this REALLY is, says, "Ok, when we get home, you can get your snack and you won't be able to watch TV for 30 minutes!" (it is 2:45 when we get home...keep this is mind)
*
Jayla: "Mom, you're the best mom ever! I will learn my lesson, I promise! But maybe I should get my snack and not turn on the TV until 3:30! Doesn't matter to me...cuz, that's what I need!"
*
Me: "I think 30 minutes will be fine, Jayla!"
*
3:00pm
*
Jayla: "MOM!! Can I watch TV now? It didn't take me as long as I thought to learn my lesson!"
*
LOL

ANYWAY...we have successfully made it through the first week of school. Although, Jayla has accused me of picking her up too early (@2:30-school lets out at 2:15). She was also upset with the teacher because not only did she NOT give them homework one day...but she doesn't give it on Fridays...EVER! Again, I ask, WHOSE child IS this??? :-) I PRAY that this girl always has this type of enthusiasm for school and learning. However, I also pray that she stops being so hard on herself when she does "wrong". Love her to death though! What an AWESOME little girl!

How bout a flower fix? (bout time, right?) ;)

2nd Grade...here she comes!

Where did the summer go?
~
It almost makes me sad that we went on our vacation so soon after last school year let out. But we had a fun summer and as always, I just love hanging out with Jayla.
~
Speaking of Jayla, today is her first day of 2nd grade! Ya'll, when I tell you that this girl was Soooooo excited to be going to school today...TRUST ME!!! She all but bolted out of bed this morning, lol. EVERYTHING about this morning and what this day holds just made her giddy!
~
And OF COURSE we had to take pictures of our cute little 2nd grader...check her out.
~
Oh, wait...before we see those pictures, let me share one more thing with you. For those of you who have little girls...more specifically, "brown" little girls, LOL...you KNOW that the hair has to be done. And what a major undertaking it is. Especially if you have a daughter who needs a touch-up or some hot comb action :-). Check out Jayla...BEFORE the touch up...

...a HOT MESS, right? I tried to have her make a sad face for her BEFORE picture. But the girl just can't NOT smile. lol

...And the AFTER....Ahhh, now that's better! She was royally freaking out on me while I relaxed her hair. We were clearly in MELT DOWN mode. Poor thing was just crying. But once we got done, she said, "The burning was all worth it...cuz I look KA-YUTE!" :-)
~
Ok, back to today...check out my little 2nd grader.
(note: Jayla told me to mention to whoever saw this picture, that she's not holding up the Peace sign - this time - that's a 2 for 2nd grade, lol)

I think this is my favorite picture of the day. She looks SO happy and SO KA-YUTE!!! :-)

We can't leave Trae out! He wants to take a picture with HIS 2nd grader too :-). Look at his tongue sticking out...love it!

Here she is at her new desk. Still looking as happy as can be.

...And we've gotta take a picture with daddy. Can't start the day off without ONE MORE hug.
~
Welp, that's about it for now. I can't wait to pick Jayla up from school this afternoon. I hope she's still excited. It'll be interesting to see how this week progresses. I mean, will the excitement continue? We'll see...stay tuned!
~
Enjoy your day!
