What's your favorite?

Hello there.

Ok, Thanksgiving is over and now it's time to get in Christmas mode. Christmas has got to be my favorite holiday. I just love seeing the looks on my kids' faces when they open their gifts. And I think just the spirit of THAT day is just happy and joyous.

I will admit though, by Christmas day, I have had my fill of the music/carols. HOWEVER, I do have my favorites. And that's what this post is all about.

For those of you who know me...I mean REALLY know me...you are well aware that, at times I can be just a couple french fries short of a Happy Meal...if you know what I mean :-). There is a HUGE silly side of Dawn. I absolutely LOVE to laugh and making others laugh also brings me joy :-). As a matter of fact, both my parents hate when I call them during the day. Normally, they're both at work and they get so embarassed laughing out loud at me on the phone. Weird, huh? :-D There have actually been times when they've simply hung up on me :-).

ANYHOO...back to the subject at hand. I do tend to get a little tired of the Christmas music by the time the day arrives. But there are a few that I could listen to over and over again. And this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPgq_fxaW7U has GOT to be at the top of my list. If you haven't heard this before, you're in for a treat. Again, keep in mind that I LOVE to laugh and this just cracks me up. It's SO fun!!! I think the part I enjoy the most is the guy laughing in the background. ENJOY!!

So, tell me...what are your favorite Christmas/Holiday Songs? Other than the one above, my favs are:

~Celebrate Me Home - By Kenny Loggins (LOVE IT!!)

~Silent Night - By The Temptations (a CLASSIC!)

~I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas - By The Drifters (another classic!)

~This Christmas - By Donny Hathaway (yet another classic!)

11/27 update: I just thought of something else. I LOVE just about all music by Mannheim Steamroller. They are SO cool!!!

I'm sure there are a few others. But they don't come to mind at the moment. I am 41 now you know! I'd love to hear what some of your favorites are. Share those with us, by either putting them here in my comments or listing them on your blog.

Ok, hopefully everyone is in the Christmas spirit now. Have I inspired you? Just a little? :-)

When I saw the title come up, I started laughing and thought, "Only Dawn!!!" You're too funny!!

Oh, gosh, I like most of the Christmas songs. Silent Night is way high on my list. And there is another that is somehow blocked from my mind right now. Duh. I'll get back to ya on that!!

My all time fave is Little Drummer Boy with David Bowie and Bing Crosby. Their voices just meld so nicely. Also, I remember seeing them on a Christmas special, singing the song, so that's another reason it's probably one I love. I was in third grade, and Bing introduced "this young kid" with "talent". I think Bing died shortly after that. I think it was 1977.

Other faves:

Winter Wonderland : Dolly Parton

Holly Jolly Xmas: Burl Ives

Carol of the Bells : Trans Siberian Orchestra

Sleigh Ride, both instrumental and vocal

Okay. Porky singing "Blue Christmas" was cute.
My favorite Christmas songs?

1. Traditional chorals
2. "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" by the Smokey Robinson and the Miracles.
3. The Jackson Five Christmas Album (my mother played that for us every year.)
4. Of course, Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas"
5. A couple of Elvis Christmas songs!
6. Nat King Cole's Christmas standards.

My favorite serious song is "O Holy Night"

Favorite silly song you've probably never heard of: "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas".

I also like "the Twelve pains of Christmas"

The Porky Pig cracked me up!!!! LOVE it!!!!!!

Let's see...of classic hymns, my favorite has got to be O Holy Night. I also love to hear any of the music from The Nutcracker.

More current ones? I really like Bing Crosby's White Christmas and Elvis' Blue Christmas. I also love the Trans Siberian Orchestra. AND (since we are Disney Channel freaks in our house), I love the Aly and AJ Christmas song they play on there a lot these days.

I know I'm forgetting a lot...but that's off the top of my head! :-)

Oh my gosh, porky pig's version is too cute and I can see how it brings a smile to your face! I love Christmas music, too. You're right though, by Christmas I've greon a little tired of it. I grew up on the Christmas classics by artists like the Jackson 5, The Whisper's, The Temptation's...I love all verions of White Christmas and that version of the 12 days of Christmas where the singers get more and more drunk by the end of the song!

BTW, I would love to do a photo swap - I've never done one before but it definitely sounds like fun!

You always make me laugh and wouldn't life be too long if none of us could find the funny in it??

I love so many songs but gee, They DO start them earlier and earlier. I think our radio stations started playing them around August 21st. Okay, so that is an exaggeration but still..

The Holly and the Ivy is a classic and Little Drummer Boy. I go around singing Santa Claus is Comin' To Town the way Brice Springsteen sings it and drove the kids quiet crazy!

Manheim Steamroller and TSO are waaaay cool.

Love ya...OH! I have everything in the box and just have to get it sent. As slow as I am, it will get there by June. Okay...just kidding!
By next week!!

LOL!
I had to come in here and comment on your comment that Jayla was also wanting the Disney Princess Kitchen. They are like two peas in a pod, huh?
I'm just hoping I can find it! I haven't looked yet, but I know they don't carry it at Walmart. I'm off to Toys R us and Target tonight to see if it's anywhere!

Have a GREAT weekend!!!
