It's a special day!

Happy Friday!

Today is a special day. Please join me in wishing a very special lady in my life a
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Today is my mother's birthday! I just got off the phone with her and I almost told her I was honoring her day with a blog post...ooops! She's gonna kill me when she sees this. And not just because I'm "spotlighting" her by wishing her a happy birthday. But because I'm "spotlighting" her with these..... This is me and my mom at the Bronx Zoo.

My first Communion.

And, back in August of 2006.

Sorry that I'm in all of the pictures, lol. But, my mom doesn't like having her picture taken. So I don't have any of her by herself. Well, other than this one...

And I'm not gonna share it..................................................LOL!

Oh boy, I'm gonna get it for posting that one! But hey, it's a risk I'm willing to take. I think she looks AWESOME!!

Some of you may remember, last year for Mother's Day, I used this photo to do a scrapbook layout for my mom as a gift. I saw it when I was at her house for Spring Break, back in April. It's nicely tucked away...on a shelf...in her spare bedroom. She loves it!! HAHAHA

Anyway, I didn't share any of these pictures to embarass my mother or anything like that. I simply love her to pieces and wanted to dedicate a post to her on her special day. Hopefully, she'll forgive me.

I am very blessed to have her as a mother and wouldn't trade her for the world. I thank God everyday for choosing HER for ME. We've had our "issues". But what mothers and daughters don't? We are better women for it and our love for eachother has never been shaken.

I love you Mom! Have a blessed day. You deserve it!

Well, let's not forget that today is not only my mothers birthday. But it's FRIDAY! And we know what that means. It's time for a flower fix!
Oh how I love Calla's! Other than tulips (purple ones), these have got to be my favorite. So delicate and beautiful.

So, what have you guys got planned for the weekend? Anything wild, fun & interesting? We might be getting together with some friends this evening. And then tomorrow afternoon, we're going to celebrate another friends 40th birthday at a pool party. I'm looking forward to that one. Then of course, church on Sunday. Other than that, we don't have much going on. Nothing like a lazy Summer weekend!

Well, that's about it for me today. I think I'm gonna take little missy down to the pool. Some of her friends are gonna be down there.

So with that, I'll bid you all a farewell. Have an awesome weekend. And don't forget to Be Inspired...I am!! Toodles!

CRAZY week!!

Hello all my friends.

Where do I begin? It's been a minute since I talked to you. Quite a few things have been going on around here.

Let's see, Monday is a blur. On Tuesday, Jayla and I went to visit with our friend Jacki. If you check out Jacki's blog, you'll see some pictures from our visit. But this one shot didn't make it to her blog...check this out. This little girl is a mess! I don't think she's ever met a "stranger" in her life :-). She was very comfortable at Miss Jacki's house...as you can see. And I'm SURE it had nothing to do with the Dora the Explorer cookies that Miss Jackie bought for her, lol. This picture was taken as we were TRYING to leave. Jayla just wasn't ready to go, so she kinda "fell out" on the ottoman in kind of a "protest" against going to her own house :-). Anyway, it was a very nice visit. I got to meet 2 of Jacki's kids. What super sweet people. I also got to borrow a few stamps and "checked out" a few beading magazines.

Wednesday, Mister M. worked from home so that I could take his mother and myself to doctors appts. Hers was simply a follow up visit from a couple months ago. They sent her home with instructions to come back in 3 months. All is well. My visit was a little bit more...uhhh, involved. Some of you may remember, I broke my ankle in November of 2005. Well, I've been having a few "issues" with it for the past month or so. And I thought I'd better get it check out. Fortunately, my summer footwear is flip-flops. But on occasion, I'd like to wear something a little more appealing. Recently, I've been trying on shoes and I'm finding that I'm a little gun shy when it comes to anything with a heel higher than 2 inches. Not that I want to wear stilletos (as if I COULD!) But still! Back in '05, the doc told me that "I won't be right again" with regards to my ankle and may, in the future, need to have surgery on it. GREAT!!! So, the doc had me take a few more x-rays and told me that the discomfort I sometimes feel, may simply be a little arthritis. I guess we'll have to see what the x-rays say. Oh, and she (the doctor) as a little sneaky and had me do some bloodwork too. ARGH!!! I haven't had my cholesterol checked in over a year. So she made me do that too. But it wasn't such a bad experience...I got a scratch 'n sniff Monkey sticker for being good!! LOL

Ok, Thursday is when all the "fun" began. I'd planned for Jayla and I to just spend a quiet day at home. You know, to do ALL the household chores I should've been doing all week. I threw a load of clothes in wash and did a few more piddly things. My "BFF", Stacey called and said several of our friends were down at the pool and she wanted to know if Jayla and I would come down. So after trying to talk myself out of it for a few minutes, we decided to go. However, I didn't plan on us swimming. Wasn't hot enough and I didn't feel like the "hair" drama that comes along with us "brown" people and swimming :-) lol.

So, we get dressed and head downstairs, only to find Mom taking her pulse, saying she wasn't feeling well. She insisted that she was ok and that she just needed to sit and relax for a bit. I asked if she needed me to call anyone for her and again, she insisted that she was ok. And told me to go do what I was going to do. I didn't feel too terribly bad about leaving as I wasn't even leaving our street. I took my phone with me just in case she needed me. ANYWAY, we hung out at the pool with our friends for about an hour. NOW it's starting to get a little hot, not to mention, I was a little concerned about mom.

We get home and she's still sitting in that same spot, but now looking a little pale. She'd planned to take her pulse again as the last few times, it was very low. She said if it was still low, she was going to call the doctor. Well, it was low the next time and she called the advise nurse. Only to have them request to talk with me because mom didn't want to do what they'd suggested. Which was to call 911 IMMEDIATELY!

Ok, long story short, I called 911 for her...as now, I'm getting a little nervous. Come to find out, the reason mom didn't want to call was because they'd send an ambulance and that would scare Jayla. Knowing that Stacey and our friends were still at the pool, I had a quick fix for that. I called Stacey and asked if I could bring Jayla to her. So I ran her back down to the pool and as I'm dropping her off, we hear the sirens. The paramedics come in, check mom out and decide that she does in fact need to go to the hospital. SO, they take her, and I tried to keep up with them as I'd never driven to this hospital before. No dice!!! I had to figure it out :-).

Mom gets into a room, the nurses are doing all they can to keep mom's heartrate above 50. Which claims to be a bit of a challenge. Needless to say, they wanted to keep her overnight for observation. Mom was alright with that and she had a really good night. Mister M. met me at the hospital and stays with his mom until they put her in a regular room. Everyone is now a little calmer. Mom is in good hands and has been stable.

Mister M. comes home and gets ready for his church league basketball game. Stacey's husband also plays on that team. So she called me to ask if I wanted to go watch the guys play as she was going as well as another one of our friends. Us being there obviously didn't work as the guys lost :-). So we did what EVERY supportive wife would do...we sent the guys home with the kids and went shopping! LOL

Friday, I did some MUCH needed grocery shopping. $280 later, the family can now eat something other than hot dogs and mac & cheese :-). After putting up all the groceries, Jayla and I headed over to the hospital to see mom. She looked GREAT! Mister M came later and was followed by the doctor. They said mom had a good night and had been stable all day. So they sent her home, with directions to see her cardiologist ASAP. Jayla and I left and Mister M. brought his mommy home. Now all is well in the Bibbs household :-).

What a week, huh?I'm must glad mom is doing better now. It got a little weird there for a while. But prayers work wonders!!!

Well, I think after all of that, you guys deserve a Flower Fix...or 2. It's only a day late...so hopefully ya'll don't mind too much :-). Enjoy!!

Happy Father's Day!

...to ALL the dads out there. I hope this day is creating you all some wonderful memories. Before I get any further into this post, I'd like to bring attention to my most favorite 2 guys on this planet...My husband, Mister M. and my dad, Jay! (and you see 2 more of my favorites people here too, lol).

These two guys are an absolutely AMAZING part of my life. I love them both SO much. My dad, the first man I ever fell in love with and who still allows me to be his daddy's girl and his "sweet face" . (I can't believe I typed that...I use to hate when he called me that in public) And Mister M, the man I fall in love with over and over again, every day, in fact :-).

Sticking with this whole Father's Day theme of the day, I have to share something with you. I took a walk on the wild side, with respect to my scrapbooking hobby :-). (Cheryl will be glad) I actually did a mini album...acrylic at that, for Mister M. Ok, let me just go on record and say that doing an acrylic album is something I've wanted to do for quite some time. But now that I've done one, I am OVER it! lol. It was pretty challenging...something about the pages being clear and me being anal, LOL. ANYWAY...It took me about 7 HOURS to do the darn thing. I took a few breaks to eat or go potty or whatever. But I clocked about 7 hours on this puppy.

Let me just say that it was worth EVERY bit of stress that I experienced. Jayla gave it to her daddy this morning, saying that it was something WE made for him...ahem, WE? :-) By the 1st page, he was in (happy) tears. So I guess it's safe to say that he liked it, lol.

Wanna see it? (NOTE: I'm not sure if you can click on the pictures to make 'em bigger. But give it a try)

Supplies used: ScrapWorks 6"x6" scalloped acrylic album, Cloud9Design "Paisley Park After Dark Downtown" paper, Bassill Collections "Candy Apple" Itty Bitty Blossoms flowers & Bazzill Basics Paper flowers (Primula Brown)

That's it! Not too bad, huh? Like I said, Mister M. was very appreciative of the album and he even had a confession to make. He confessed that, although he gives me a hard time about taking SO many pictures and about the whole scrapbooking thing; he's glad that I do it. He says he enjoys being able to look back at special moments in our lives together, that I've preserved.

And these pictures obviously really made him all warm and fuzzy :-). He couldn't help but smile (and cry) at some of the pictures I found of him and his favorite little girl. I had no idea I had so many pictures of them together. I'm real pleased with how the album turned out.

Anyway, that's about it for me today. Again, I'd like to wish all the guys out there, a happy Men's Day and all the fathers, a Happy Father's Day. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Toodles!

Life Raft Lips...

...What a title, huh?
(NOTE: Most of this post was typed up on Thursday, 6/12. But because I all I needed to do for today was post the FFF, I waited until now. Ok, carry on...lol)

Well, that's exactly how I'm feeling right now. Like a have a life raft stuck to my face.

I had my turn at the dentist today, as I had to get TWO fillings. What's up with THAT? The dentist talked about Jayla's Tuesday morning visit just about the entire time I was there. And she even compared Jayla's "patient skills" to mine...stating that she's a better patient than me. WHATEVER!! lol.

Before I left for my visit, Jayla told me, "Mom, just be calm! That's all you have to do. And I'll be right here when you get back!" Uh, ok, thanks?? lol

Well, all I have to say is that I have had my share of dentist visits. And I KNEW what to expect when I got there. They told me to plan for a 2 hour visit, but I was outta there in 45 minutes! YEAH BABY!!! So it was alright for me to cringe when Miss Dentist Lady tried to sneak the "shotter" from the side so I wouldn't see it. I knew it was coming!! You can't fool me! So what if I tightened up every muscle in my body with each "little" pinch she told me I'd feel! So WHAT!!!

And I love when they ask you questions...and expect you to answer with 2 sets of blue rubber gloved hands, a drill and a spit sucker in your mouth! LOVE THAT!!

Anyway, it's over now and I'm good. I can't chew, talk without drooling all over myself and slurring my words & my lips don't quite line up...but I'm good!

Ok, in my surfing today, I came across this bit of "randomness" on Cheryl's blog. It looked interesting and her answers were great (as always). So I thought I'd borry it...Thanks Cheryl. Well, here goes.

I am...INSPIRED! And glad I made it through my dentist appt today. I HAD to make my daughter proud, you know!
I think...WAY too much! I'm really stressing out over an upcoming event I'm planning (more on that later)
I thank...GOD for my family and my friends. And thankFUL that I don't have to cook for the next 2 days. Gotta love friends who invite you over for cook-outs.
I know...that we are not given more than we can handle. If you've ever survived raising teenagers, you'll know this is true :-).
I wish...I had feeling back in my mouth and that I had a "limited unlimited" financial supply. Got it? lol
I hate...when I yell, fuss and get impatient with Jayla. Sometimes I forget that she's only 6 and VERY sensitive. I need to work on that. And shopping for myself. Oh, and the little minor things that BLOGGER doesn't do...like the whole picture placement thing and the miles of spacing I CONSTANTLY have to fix. Other than that, I don't hate much :-D.
I miss...My grandfather, Cliff. My great-grandmother, Mama G. My SIL, Paula. And my body while I was nursing :-) LOL.
I feel...Blessed and happy about life in general.
I shop...almost daily at the grocery store. (that's another thing I hate). I also shop a lot less than I'd like to :-D.
I cry...at the craziest things and at the drop of a dime. I'm a VERY emotional person and just about anything can set me off to tears.
I don't always...straighten up the house as much as I probably should. (cleaning house, that's another thing I hate)
I pray...at night while I'm laying in bed. That's the time I can revisit the day I just had and think more clearly. And also while I'm driving.
I lose...weight WAY too slowly! :-)
I listen...to the radio almost all day. I LOVE music! Oh, and I listen to questions from Jayla almost all day too.
I am scared...of dying and leaving my family without a mother and wife.
I dance...terribly!!!
I need...to get ready to go over to our friends house. But I'm having too much fun updating my blog :-). Oh, and I need a couple hundred $'s for the event I'll talk about some other time :-D.
I surf...the internet CONSTANTLY!!! If you can't find something on the internet, it can't be found!
I dread...exercising, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and dreaming.
I anticpate...celebrating my daughters' birthdays, my anniversary and the event I can't talk to you about yet :-).
I laugh...ALL THE TIME!!! I love laughing, even at myself. I'm pretty funny, lol.

Welp, there you have it. That was fun and different, huh? Ok, so it's your turn. If you didn't take or see this challenge on Cheryl's blog, NOW YOU DO! So consider yourself tagged. Can't wait to see your answers.

So, what do you guys have planned for the weekend? We're going to some friends house tonight, as I mentioned. So I'm looking forward to that. Oh well, that's about it for me.

Oh shoot...I almost forgot the FFF. Here ya go...Enjoy!

Everybody loves Jayla!

Hello everyone.

I won't take up much of your time today. But I just had to post this before I forgot...I feel a scrapbook page coming soon :-).

Yesterday, Jayla and I ran a few errands. One of which was to Michaels. I mean, I had a 50% off coupon so I kinda HAD to go, right? Anyway, I spent a whopping $6! How come I can never find what I really want when I have THAT kind of coupon in hand?

Well, while we were standing in line, Jayla looks up at me and says, "Hey mom, guess what? My belly is hungry for some lunch!" I laughed and asked her what her belly wanted. She says, "Well, my belly really wants some Moe's!" Ok, now, I really wasn't in the mood for Moe's, but she HAS been asking for it for a while...even before school got out. So I tell her to let me think about it. There were about 4 people ahead of us in line, so I was able to stall a little. After we checked out, she looks up at me and says, "Well mom? Whatcha think? You feel like going, you know where? lol
ARGH...I tell her ok and we head across the parking lot to Moe's. We order our food, find a place to sit down and she says, "Hey mom, you know what? You and...whoever Moe is, sure make some good quesadillas!" LOL (note: had I known she liked mine so much, I could've saved myself $12 and some change!)

Then this morning, Jayla had a dentist appt. When we went a couple weeks ago, they found a small cavity in one of her molars. Even though she'll probably lose that tooth in about 5 - 6 years, they thought it best to go ahead and do a filling. Well, I've never heard of a 6 year old getting a filling. So needless to say, I was a little nervous. Being that I've had my share of "tooth issues", I was scared FOR her. Anyway, she and I talked about it a bit, short of me telling her she'd have to get a shot in her little gums.
Jayla loves to read and has several books. So she comes across this book. After "reading" it, she asks me a few questions about her upcoming visit but doesn't seem to be sweating it. SO, back to today. On our way to the dentist, I tell Jayla that she needs to make sure she relaxes and listens to what they tell her to do. And that IF they accidentally hurt her a little bit, for her to remember that they are only trying to help her and keep her pretty teeth healthy. And she says, "No problem mom! And don't worry, I can go back by myself and you can wait for me." We get to the office around 8:55 for her 9am appt. At 8:58, they call her back. Around 5 after 9 the dentist walks by the glass lobby door and gives me the thumbs up. She then tells me that they have already given Jayla "the SHOT" and that she did great. At 9:20, they bring Jayla out to me and tell me that she's all done and she did GREAT! I couldn't believe it only took 20 minutes! The dentist tells me that Jayla needs to teach some adults how to behave when THEY get a filling :-). Jayla looks at me and says, "Yeah mom! You have to be a big girl like me when you come back on Thursday for your filling!" WHATEVER!! :-)

Lastly, this evening when Mister M. got home, he took a little nap. He was so tired from being bored to death in day 2 of a week long, work related class. When he wakes up, he goes to his desk in the playroom. Jayla quickly gets up and says, "Hey dad, I have a teensy weensy question." Now he's a little nervous, lol. She proceeds to ask him this..."Dad, is Wendy the Burger Kings daughter?" LOL He laughs and tells her "no", but asks where she came up with THAT question. She says, "I dunno, I just thinked of it."
I am hearing this from my studio and I just couldn't help but LOL. She's so funny. I just love that little girl.

Oh well, that's all I have for today. I'll let ya'll know if I'm a big girl or a big sissy when I have my turn at the dentist in a couple days :-). Toodles!!

It's HOT!!!

Ok, who's idea was it to be so STINKIN hot today? Huh? WHO?

ARGH!!! I'm not quite to the miserable stage yet...but I'm getting there. It's 3:33pm here right now and it's finally getting "cool". It's 91!! I think it got up to about 95 or 96 today. That's just REE-DICALUS!!! :-)

And then you'll have days like next Thursday... where I'm gonna have to break out the full length leather coat, the gloves, the hat and snow boots. It's ONLY gonna get up to 88 that day. Brrrr!! LOL. Welcome to GEORGIA!!

Another way to tell you how hot it is here...me and Jayla were at our neighborhood pool at 10am! I NEVER go to a pool in the "morning". But I thought it better to go then...as to not subject my daughter to a "rolling boil".

Anyhoo...what do you guys have planned for the weekend? Anything fun? We don't really have any plans that have made their way to THE calendar. So we'll see. Who knows, we may go back to the pool tomorrow so Jayla can show her daddy how she swims across the pool with her big ole pink arm swimmies on :-). And I'd like for him to see how conscience our daughter has become about her lovely brown skin. Now, before she gets in the pool, she flings her arms out to the side, throws her head back and says, "MOM...SPRAY ME!!!" I think she just likes being able to wear sunscreen, lol.

Well, that's all for now. How bout some flowers? I sure hope they don't die in this heat...
Sorry, I couldn't decide which one I wanted you to have...so you get 3 pix :-) ENJOY!!

Have a great weekend! Talk to ya next week.

I don't wanna talk about it! :-)

Good morning!

Let's see, what do I have to share today?

Well, I've been doing a little bit of scrapbooking lately. It has been kinda difficult to get back in the "groove", so to speak. ESPECIALLY after putting together 16 Kindergarten scrapbooks. (which I still need to share with you). I've really been longing to get some of my OWN stuff done. So on my weekly Girls Nights, it is always my intention to whip a few pages out. But someone always brings a fun game to play, or the conversation is too good and needs my undivided attention :-), or we go to a movie, or we go out for dessert, or we go bowling like we did last night (don't EVEN ask!)...OR I don't have something I need. My list of excuses can go on forever and ever. Therefore, I won't bore you with them. (REALLY...don't ask about the bowling last night...it was BRUTAL!...don't wanna talk about it...and you can't make me).

ANYHOO...I did get one 2-pager completed. Although it doesn't look like it, it took me about a month to get this one done. YES...a MONTH! (see above excuses). So here it is...

Sorry the picture is so crappy. OH...that's another thing I've been working on lately...trying to figure out how to work the camera I've had for almost 2 years! I am DYING to learn how to take better pictures. Guess I'd better add that to my "to do/learn" list. ARGH!!

I do, however, love this layout. It makes a WORLD of difference when you have a subject that is as stinkin cute as my Jayla :-).

Did I mention I'm a MUCH better scrapbooker than I am a bowler?

I don't wanna talk about it!!! LOL

So, I've kinda got tagged earlier this week. This lovely lady was nice enough to leave me a comment saying that she tagged me. HOWEVER, I never actually saw my name in her post. But she led me to believe that it was simply a challenge to whoever wanted to participate...but for those whom she left an actually comment for...really had to do it. So, that's considered being "tagged", isn't it? lol

Ok, now that I'm officially confused...AND a terrible bowler (I don't wanna talk about it!), how bout we get to the "survey", shall we. Some of this info you already know about me...so, just humor me, lol. (Oh, I hope there are no questions about bowling! Cuz, I don't wanna talk about it!)

Welcome to the 2008 edition of getting to know your friends! Try not to be lame and spoil the fun! If you get tagged, copy this entire survey and paste into your own blog, change all of the answers so that they apply to you.
