Hot Fun in the Summertime!

Remember that song? Can you tell me who sang it? I mean, I know who sang it and I'm not giving away any fabulous prizes or anything...I'm just askin! :-) LOL
~
SO, did you all have a nice holiday weekend? Ours was great! The trip to the grocery store with half of the county I live in wasn't so great...but the rest of the weekend was very nice.
Speaking of the grocery store...THAT was interesting! I only had about 10 items on my list of things to get for the evening. 3 of which was chicken for the tailgating part. Had I known that my "20 minute" wait for REGULAR chicken wings would've turned into 45 minutes, I would've stopped there first! Anyway, it all worked out fine. We got some yummy Oriental wings (if you've never tried those from the Publix deli, treat yourself one day!) We also got buffalo wings, then of course the regular fried wings.
~
Now, call me crazy, but doesn't it seem that the "normal/regular" wings would be a food staple? Something that should pretty much stay on the visible daily menu? Oh well, the perk of having to wait longer than originally expected, was getting extra chicken for the price of what I asked for. So that was cool. But now, what are we gonna do with ALL this chicken? I mean, there are only 3 of us in my family :-). We'll work it out, lol!
~
SO, everybody meets up at my buddy, Stacey's house and we caravan downtown to Turner Field. We get separated a little bit in the parking lot, due to the "rent-a-cops" attempting to direct the traffic flow. Stacey and her family were the only vehicle in our caravan of 4 vehicles to get sent in the opposite direction to park. The rest of us got to park together. ANYWAY...no harm done. They just packed up their stuff, walked across the parking lot and joined the rest of us on a nice patch of grass (and sidewalk). There was SO much food! We all brought meat & drinks for our individual families. And then there was the COMMUNITY table. That's where we put all the stuff we shared with eachother. YUMMY stuff!!!
~
After everyone was all fed/full and our little natives were getting restless :-), we packed up and threw away what was left. Remember the extra chicken I got? Well, after waiting so long for it, I didn't have the heart to throw it away. So we packed it up and it kept nicely in the van. I guess it was hot enough out there for chicken :-).

These are all the kids that were with us, that caravaned together. What a cute bunch of young 'uns!

We headed into the stadium, made our potty stop then made our way to our seats. Oh man, we had AWESOME seats! We were in left field (whatever that means, lol). All I know is we were in the shade, OUT of the sun. It was great! Before the game, some servicemen as well as some civilians brought out this enormous US flag. It was amazing...check it out...better yet, how bout a picture dump :-).

This is the "grand ole flag". And it's not even opened out all the way yet.

Here's the flag up on the giant monitor. Still, you can't get the full effect of how large this thing was.

Here's Mister M. and Jayla during the National Anthem. She was in awe!

Some girls in little shorty shorts were walking around the field shooting t-shirts out of a cannon (how do you apply for THAT job?) And this is Mister M. and Jayla yelling, "Up HERE!!! UP HERE!!!"

Ok, these next few shots will kinda show how excited Jayla really was with this whole 4th of July event. First of all, she was so thankful that the Braves won BECAUSE it was the 4th, LOL. She cheered for EVERY-SINGLE player who walked out on the field! So what some of them were from the other team! She just loved it and totally enjoyed herself. She got a kick out of the "giant TV" that showed everything that was going on on the field. That's what she's looking at in these first few shots. Just look at her...
She even took a minute out to take a picture of me and daddy. Sometime between the 8th and 9th innings, we decided that, for the safety of our children, we'd leave the stadium and find a spot to sit and watch the fireworks.

Here's Jayla and our friend, Ava staring at the beautiful fireworks

Speaking of fireworks, I won't bore you with all the pictures I took of them. So how bout the best of the 10+ that I took :-). Pretty, huh?

Oh well, that's about it for our weekend recap. Hope you guys had a fun filled weekend as well. Oh, I forgot to tell you. Remember all the left over chicken I talked about? Well, I am happy to tell you that we were able to give the chicken away. On our way home from the game, we saw a homeless man standing on the exit ramp. So we gave it to him. I was so happy to be able to do that. And Jayla was excited to see that we gave food to someone who needed it.

You guys have a great week!! Toodles!

I love the pics & commentary sounds like a classic fun-filled 4th. Not a huge baseball fan but I would have went to this!

P.S. I love that you gave the chicken to a homeless man and Jayla appreciated that fact. :) :)
